Achievements

We have celebrated lots of great achievements in Ruma Weka in the last two weeks. 

Some of these were the first group of tamariki to complete all of their sight word lists.

Coming in the top three at our school cross country. 

And receiving a certificate for showing Rangatiratanga in class. 

Cross County!

Today we had cross country. It was wet and muddy but so we had to do it at school but we had so much fun! We had to run around the bike track, across the field and through the muddy fort. We loved it so much that we made some animations about it. 

Student Spotlight - Finnian

My Holiday - By Finnian

At  the weekend my family went tramping to a hut.  We slept at the hut and the next day we walked back to the car.  We saw a robin on the way back and on the way there is a  small bird I liked it.  I carried a backpack with my clothes in it.  When we got back we kept on driving to Hammer.   When we got there we had electric blankets on our beds they were warm.  Mum and Dad had electric blankets too. We went to the hot pools and I was tall enough to go on the hydroslides and I went on the new one and the Super Bowl.  My favourite one was the green hydroslide because it had lights which were shaped like arrows inside.  It was a great holiday. 

Dress Up Day!

On Friday we finally sorted through all of our new costumes and had fun dressing up and playing in them. Here are some of our outfits. 

Emotions

We were learning all about feelings and emotions last week. To help us remember that there are so many more than just happy or sad, we took photos of ourselves making all different emotion and have them up on the wall in our classroom.

Reading Activities

This week in reading after we read our stories we had to create a drawing of a scene from our book as if we were one of the characters. This included making a birthday cake for a friend and finding a special treasure. We created them on explain everything and then recorded ourselves talking about it. Here are some of our videos. 

School Kit!

We were very excited last week when we received our first ever school kit! We are learning all about our feeling and emotions and other people's feeling and emotions. We are also going to learn to understand how we treat others can affect how they are feeling.
